STUDENT EXCHANGE PROGRAM
Description:
Through the University’s International Office and IAESTE exchange program, the Centre extends internship opportunities to international students. The internship is designed as a work-study program where students are engaged in the Centre’s ongoing projects as they continue with their home University’s curriculum.
“During these 3 months of internship, my responsibility is precision mechanical design, which is highly related to my focus from PME study program – Engineering Mechanics.
DeCES also provided me with opportunities to visit factories and labs which benefited me in many ways. My experience in Kenya was very pleasant. The coworkers from the Centre were very welcoming and friendly. I enjoyed working and having morning tea with them. Also, I really appreciate our team gave me a Masai name: Naeku, which means born in the early morning. On the weekdays, I worked on the assigned projectand on weekends, I went to different national parks and mountains.Overall, the three months at DeKUT was one of the most precious and special experience I had so far and I recommend this internship to future interns who are adventurous and are ready to embrace this lovely country”
“During my internship, I was able to apply the knowledge I acquired during my studies to real world problems and gain valuable work experience in the engineering field. I received a very warm welcome in Kenya and the whole team made sure I felt at home. It was great pleasure working with the team and hope to meet them all again sometime in the future.
My main contribution was writing python code to visualise moisture data collected at solar wood dryer constructed by the centre for a local tea factory. With the visualised data, the drying process can be better understood, and the efficacy of the dryer improved.”
